|West Chester University Anime Club Halloween Party
||[02 Oct 2005|09:59am]
Just to let you know, the President of the West Chester University Anime Club has invited us to their Halloween Party on Monday, October 31st. Dan and I will most likely attend.
They are having tons of games, events, and anime, of course! I think we should all stop on by and introduce ourselves. They seem like a great bunch of anime freaks! ^_^ Like ourselves, of course.
|October Meeting Report
||[02 Oct 2005|09:42am]
Thanks to all who came! Sorry to say we were missing some faces, and it seems there was some trouble for some new folks finding the place. Just as a reminder, the Social Lounge is in the North Building. The buildings are clearly labeled North, South, and East on the awnings leading to their main entrances. If you need help with directions, feel free to post to the list or e-mail me direclty at firstname.lastname@example.org
Now, on to the report!
During Gaming Hour, we played...
F-Zero and Capcom vs SNK
And we watched...
Ayashi no Ceres, Episodes 14 & 15
Cromartie High School, Episodes 11 & 12
Hellsing, Episodes 1 & 2
Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight, Episode 1
Also, Jackie and Matt brought tons of yummy Pocky. Who is with me that chocolate banana is the best Pocky on the planet?!
Don't forget, Zentrancon is October 16th! Until next month...
|Aug 2005 Meeting Report
||[07 Aug 2005|12:54am]
What a fantastic meeting!! Despite the fact that a couple of our regulars couldn't make it this month, we actually had some new people show up! Haha, thanks to Jackie, Jackie, and Matt for showing! And towards the end of the meeting, an interested individual actually read our signs and stayed!
To all those that didn't quite make it: We missed you! I hope we'll see you at the September meeting!
Here's how things went:
Metroid Prime 2 Echoes
Ayashi no Ceres, Eps 10 & 11
Cromartie High School, Eps 7 & 8
Laputa (aka Castle in the Sky)
Dan and I had been discussing the idea of watching an anime movie in place of the random slots, and everyone seemed interested in giving this a shot. It was fun -- and, of course, Miyazaki is always welcome.
We also held a raffle in which our newest members made off like BANDITS! Congrats Jackie and Matt!! We still have a few great items left for a future raffle. And I have also come across some new items. But you'll have to wait until next month to see what new incarnation of the raffle shall appear!
It was a great time! Hope to see everyone and more next month!
p.s. Pics to come as soon.
|July 2nd Meeting
||[03 Jul 2005|10:54am]
Yesterday's meeting was a blast!! Although most of our members (and new interested members) went away for holiday, we still had a great time. Ah, thus is the curse of having a meet on a holiday weekend...
So here is what went on:

Soul Calibur 2

Random Pick #1: ADV Advocates Club Disc #6
Cromartie High School Eps. Eps. 3-6

Random Pick #3: Mahoujin Guru Guru Ep. 1
And our members won some great prizes from the raffle including Pocky, GTO Manga, and a RahXephon poster to name a few!

Until next time,
||[21 Jun 2005|10:31am]
I just wanted to let everyone know that I have made a
poll regarding our club trip, the one to the Japanese
House & Garden in Philadelphia. We want to know when
is convenient for you to attend this trip. So please
let us know!
Now...onto the news about our next meeting! We are
having a Raffle at our next meet on Saturday, July
2nd. Tickets will be 2 for $1.00. We are raffling
some great stuff like Pocky, Manga, Anime, OSTs,
We also have the ADV Anime Advocates Club Disc, so we
are planning to take some time during one of our
random slots to watch an episode or two. If you
haven't already seen this at our other chapters or
another club this month, it contains Elfen Lied (Club
Edition), Get Backers, Eps. 1 & 2 of Season 2, and
RahXephon Eps. 1 & 2. All good animes, so hopefully
we can give each a chance with at least one episode.
Please be sure to check out the table near the door.
We will have the June Edition of the DAS Newsletter
there as well as some new Kanameiji Flyers and
Reviewer information if you would like to write a
review to ADV regarding the Club Disc.
That's all for now!! Stay tuned for the new design of
our club mascots. Our artists are working very hard!
Oh, and if any of you would like to take a crack at it
yourselves, please feel free! You can contact Dan and
I at email@example.com

|Our first meeting as the DAS Kanameiji
||[05 Jun 2005|09:41am]
Dear fellow Kanameijs,
I felt today was a major success. We started gaming
hour at 2pm. We ended up playing MarioKart, Ikaruga,
Worms Blast, and F-Zero.
At 3pm, we began addressing club business which
started as a basic explanation/introduction as to what
it meant for our club now that we are under the
Delaware Anime Society. For those of you who were not
in attendance, we are still the same club -- but with
the strength being connected to DAS, we are hoping for
much more support and a GREAT future!!
Next, we discussed ideas for our first club trip as
the Kanameijis. I unveiled a nice poster-board
outlining my little speach about the idea Dan and I
came up with: a trip to the Shofuso, a Japanese House
& Garden in Philadelphia. At Shofuso, we could get a
guided tour of the authentic 16th-century style
Japanese home which includes the main structure, tea
house, and adjoining preparation room. Additionally,
visitors are welcome to stroll through the surrounding
gardens containing stone-walkways, traditional plants
of Japan, and a Koi Pond.
Needless to say, the attending members were extremely
excited about this idea, and we have agreed upon
visiting Shofuso. The time and date of this trip will
be discussed at a later time. But to give you an
idea, we are hoping to make the trip later this month.
And then came the anime!! We watched Ayashi no Ceres,
episodes 1-4. We were slated to watch only two
episodes, but we really got into this anime! Next, we
watched a random pick which ended up being Fruits
Basket, episodes 1-2. Then was the infamous Cromartie
High School, episodes 1-2. Inbetween the anime we had
a dinner break, and we also had a second round of
gaming at the end of the meeting.
We had several people checking out our flyers posted
around the complex and the social lounge. Two
visitors stopped in and stayed for a few shows. All
in all, it was a very fun day, and we definitely got
the word out about DAS Kanemeiji!
Thanks to all who came, and to those who did not...we
hope to see you next month! I'll update again soon
with the plans for our club trip, and I'm also going
to upload the pictures from our meeting to the website
as well as our mailing list folder.

||[08 Apr 2005|01:36pm]
Sooooo...yup, I'm too sleepy to be motivated to clean my kitchen, but I'm not sleepy enough to actually lay down and take a nap. I did this instead.

I guess I should go clean now. ^^;;
||[07 Apr 2005|11:59pm]
Let's see...we kind have been on hold lately as far as meetings. But I've updated the website with information regarding our most recent events. Those being:

3. Special Showing of Ceres
Once mrquadermass downloads the Chinatown pictures off of his camera, I'll have a more extensive update in that regard.
1. April Meeting with DAS
2. Chester Pride Day (included due to the added asian-art content at the gallery)
3. MU Trip -- meeting up with our old Mansfield University Anime Club Friends!
|Philly and surrounding area cosplayers needed!
||[31 Mar 2005|12:21pm]
"15 min. of fame for Philly area cosplayers
Hey gang, here's a chance to see your name in print if you live in the region mentioned below. I've talked to this writer myself, and she's the real deal. www.philly.com is the paper's web site.
Rita Giordano, writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, seeks cosplayers to interview in the Philadelphia area including the city's Pennsylvania and South Jersey suburbs. (In general, that's area codes 215, 610, 609 and 856.) The article will discuss what cosplaying is and how and why people do it. She will need to quote people by name, ultimately, and they may be photographed if they are willing, but the paper doesn't publish private information like telephone numbers and addresses. Cosplayers of all ages are welcome to apply, but young people under the age of 18 should obtain permission from their parents or guardian who may or may not want to talk to Ms. Giordano before giving consent. She will gladly introduce herself and address parental concerns if needed.
